Whether you are recording an in-class lecture, or if you want to make a long recording of an online meeting, there are options in Zoom

Info

Good to know:

Recording an in-class lecture

  • Open up the Microsoft Teams app (this may take a few seconds to appear after you first log onto a class PC)

  • Before starting a recording, check your video & audio settings. To do so, click on the "..." dots next to your profile picture. Then Settings > Devices

...

  • In Devices, select the following options

Camera: Logitech Brio (normally this will be the only option)

Microphone: Logitech Brio (normally this will be the only option)

Speakers: Realtek (normally this will be the only option)

  • Select the Calendar button displayed down the left-hand side

  • In the top-right, select Meet now from the options available

  • Name the recording and click Start meeting

  • If you're recording anything with music, or classroom discussions, we recommend that you turn Noise suppression off

    • By default, Teams will try to filter out background noise and focus on the main speaker. Sometimes this isn't what you want.

    • Next to your profile picture, select the "..." button

    • Select Settings > Devices and scroll down to Noise suppression. Turn this to Off

  • You can record the session by selecting More > Record and transcribe > Start a recording

...

  • When you are finished, select More > Record and transcribe > Stop recording

...

  1. Host or start New meeting in Zoom.

  2. Click on More and then the Record button and choose Record to the cloud.

  3. While recording, you can share your screen and talk through any materials (for example, a PowerPoint presentation). You can pause or stop the recording at any time.

  4. Click End meeting to finish your session.

  5. Zoom will send you an email notification when your video is ready. Sign into Zoom and go to the Recordings tab to find your video.
