When a questionnaire has a lot of similar content or is identical to a previously verified questionnaire from that study, a copy of the questionnaire can be made in Archivist. This is done by downloading the XML for the questionnaire in Archivist, changing the questionnaire prefix and instrument name, and importing this into Archivist. This saves a lot of time as we can be confident that, when the content is the same, it does not need to be meticulously checked, as the copied questionnaire has already been verified.
One way to identify the changes that need to be made to copied questionnaires is using diffchecker. This website allows you to upload two documents, and it will highlight the differences between the two. Targeted changes can then be made to the areas of the questionnaire that are different. This method is ideal when there are only a small number of changes to be made.
Alternatively, the copied questionnaire can be scanned against the document that is being used for entry to ensure all the content is included and is in the correct order, making changes where needed. Similarly to parsed questionnaires, the content that is already included does not need to be checked as meticulously as content which has been entered from scratch, because it has been copied from a verified questionnaire.
