Turnitin Assignment

As a student, you may be asked to submit an assignment electronically to Moodle. There are two different assignment types on Moodle: Moodle assignment and Turnitin assignment. The process to upload an assignment is fairly similar for each. This guide explains how to upload an assignment and receive feedback from a Turnitin assignment.

What is Turnitin? 

Turnitin is one of the online assessment platforms at UCL. Although its origins are in helping to identity plagiarism, it is also used by tutors to grade work and provide feedback.

Turnitin can be used for:

  • Online submission of work;

  • Feedback on work;

  • Similarity Reports - check how your work matches other texts, including web pages, journal articles, books and other students' work;

  • Peer assessment exercises using the Peermark tool.

Turnitin assignments will typically appear on Moodle with a red icon as shown below:
