How to share a MS Teams lecture recording in Moodle
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for staff members on how to create a URL activity in Moodle to share Microsoft Teams recordings stored in Microsoft Stream.

Create URL of Microsoft Teams recording
Log in to Microsoft Stream
Navigate to Created by me
Locate the Teams meeting recording you want to share
Click “…” to open the settings. Click on Share
Click on the cog icon to adjust the link settings

Click on Apply
Click Copy link to copy the link to your recording
Share a URL Activity in Moodle
Log in to Moodle and navigate to your course.
Click Edit mode to enable editing mode (top right corner).
In the relevant section, click Add an activity or resource.
Type URL in the search box. Select URL and click Add.
Configure the URL Activity
In the Name field, enter a descriptive title (e.g., “Week 1 Lecture Recording”).
In the External URL field, paste the Microsoft Stream video link.
In the Description field, provide context for the video (e.g., date, topics covered) and select Display description on course page if needed.
Under Appearance, set Display to “New window” (recommended for best user experience).
Adjust any other settings as necessary.
Save and test the URL Activity
Click Save and return to course.
Test the link by clicking on it to ensure it directs users to the correct Microsoft Stream video.
If needed, update permissions in Stream to ensure accessibility.
Troubleshooting common issues:
Students cannot access the video: Ensure correct sharing settings in Microsoft Stream.
Link does not open correctly: Verify that the URL is copied correctly and set to open in a new window.
Moodle URL activity is not visible to students: Check the availability settings in Moodle.
