Late Submissions
Overview
Note: Late penalties are applied in SITS/ Portico. WISEflow will reflect the student’s provisional grade.
Late submission allows students to hand in work after the published submission deadline has passed. It will work based on both global and individual submission deadlines and can be enabled on the following flow types:
FLOWassign
FLOWhandin
By default, students are permitted to submit up to 31 days late on FLOWassign and FLOWhandin type flows - this is in accordance with UCL’s policy on module assessment. This can be adjusted as is appropriate for the needs of your specific assessment.
Adjusting late submission periods
Access the flow as a Manager and click on the Advanced tab:
Amend the input fields for the Permission to submit late setting via the Flow type settings panel. You can also change the unit of time to hours or minutes if needed.
Identifying late submissions
Access the flow as a Manager. Scroll down to the Participants list and click Tools > Export grades:
On the grade export screen is a larger grade export table. Late submissions are flagged in the Submitted late column (the table is very large, so you may need to use the horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of the table to see this).
You can click on the column header to reorganise the data and display all late submissions at the top. You can additionally export this table as a spreadsheet by clicking Export filtration to file, or by clicking the burger button and selecting Export all data as csv:
Tip: It can also be helpful to quickly check the participation monitor for any comments that suggest a submission was not actually late, e.g. occasionally if technical difficulty is encountered, an administrative user may submit on the student’s behalf and should have left a note in the Actions column of the participation monitor to explain this.
