What is it?

The Feedback block is a feature that enables you to view grades and feedback for assessment activities such as Moodle Assignments, Turnitin Assignments, Workshops and Quizzes across modules in a single-view report.

The block provides links to submissions and any feedback that has been returned via Moodle. It highlights recent feedback but also allows you to view all your feedback for the current academic year through a link: "Feedback tracker".

It also shows whether an assessment has feedback, and whether it is formative or summative.

Under Submission, you will see:

  • Submitted (green) = you submitted before the assessment due date.

  • Submitted late (yellow) = you submitted after the assessment due date.

  • Overdue (red) = you have not submitted, and the assessment due date has passed.

Feedback Due date: This date is based upon the UCL’s academic policy on Assessment feedback requirement that feedback should be delivered within 20 UCL working days excluding all UCL holidays.

Feedback Status Indicator: The Feedback indicator will display:

  • Released (green) = Feedback has been released within 20 working days from the assessment due date.

  • Released late (yellow) = Feedback has been released but it took longer than 20 working days from the assessment due date.

  • Overdue (red) = Feedback has not been released and more than 20 working days has passed from the assessment due date.

Under Mark you will see whether an assessment is:

  • Summative: counts towards course mark.

  • Formative: does not contribute to course mark.

Why use it?

The Feedback tracker report helps students (supported by their personal tutors) to better understand the variety of feedback they receive, and draw ties between different assessments and modules, and allow them to reflect on their feedback to see how they can improve in future assessments. .

It also allows module tutors and departmental administrators to see how their students are progressing within the modules they teach and support.

Who can use it?

The Feedback report is available to students, personal tutors, course tutors and departmental administrators.

...

Students can view feedback and grades from their assessments across all their UCL Moodle courses.

and teachers to see the status of submissions and feedback. This will allow you to see where feedback is pending, and check in with your tutors about any overdue feedback.

How do I access and use Feedback tracker reports?

You can navigate to your own Feedback tracker report via the  Feedback the Feedback block on your dashboard.

The block gives you direct access to your latest assessed work. Select "View all your feedback" to see your full Feedback report for the current academic year.
This report enables students to add self-reflective notes to their own reports and to copy & paste any feedback from Turnitin into their report.

The Feedback comments tab shows general feedback* from a student's Module Tutors for each assessment, as well as selected grading rubric levels and marking guide comments from Moodle Assignments.
Overall feedback from Moodle quizzes is also provided. In depth quiz feedback will usually be found within the attempt alongside each question. To see this click the 'View last attempt' link in the Full Feedback column. For other assessment types click the 'View feedback' link in the Full Feedback column to see contextualised feedback for the assessment. E.g. the level you obtained alongside other grading levels within a rubric, in text comments added directly to your assessment etc.

You can add self-reflective notes against your graded assessments, which can be viewed by your Personal Tutor and Departmental Administrator.

The date you viewed the feedback from an assessment is also displayed, allowing tutors to easily determine whether their comments are being read. Feedback that has not been viewed by you will have a cross displayed beside it.

*If the assessment is a Turnitin assignment, general feedback cannot be displayed automatically, however you can copy and paste comments from the original feedback provided on your Turnitin assignment if you would find it useful to view this feedback alongside other assessments.
