Timelapse Microscope Data Policy
Users are responsible for backing up their own data. If internal this is either to their own folder on the confocalstor or other storage solution. External users must use portable hard drives.
Data will be retained on the computers for one month after their creation, after which time they will be identified for deletion.
Data identified for deletion will be removed from the computer on the first working day of the month or as soon as possible thereafter.
If the hard drive becomes particularly stressed, then it may be necessary for the data to be removed before the month is up. In this case management will backup the data and inform the owners of the data.
Data Tranfer Rates
The data transfer rate from the time-lapse systems to the server is approximately 1Gb/minute, this may vary, but consider this when backing up data for the amount of time you should allow. USB transfers will likely take longer.
