  1. Toggle Edit mode on
  2. Click on Add an activity or resource
  3. Choose Text and media area
  4. Insert cursor in the text field
  5. Click on the Extensions button in the top of your Google Chrome browser, open the Equatio extension and the Equatio toolbar will open below.
  6. Click the Speech Input button
  7. Click the red Start Speech Input button
  8. Record the equation and check it has recorded correctly. Pause the recording and you will see your speech converted to math in the Math box
  9. Click in the Math box on the right
  10. Click “Insert Math”
  11. Close the Equation Editor and you will see the equation in the Moodle text editor for the Text and Media area below. 
  12. Click Save and return to course.

Handwriting Recognition

  1. Toggle Edit mode on
  2. Click on Add an activity or resource
  3. Choose Text and media area
  4. Insert cursor in the text field
  5. Click on the Extensions button in the top of your Google Chrome browser, open the Equatio extension and the Equatio toolbar will open below.
  6. Click the Handwriting Recognition button and write the equation in the Handwriting box and check it has converted correctly in the Math box
  7. Click in the Math box on the right and then click the Copy Math As button and choose the format you wish to use. This will be added to the clipboard and you can then paste this in the Text Editor as needed. We recommend you use HTML for Moodle which would be more accessible than an image.
  8. Close the Equation Editor then toggle to the HTML view of the editor (</>) and paste the HTML code. Toggle back to the main text editor.
  9. You will see the equation in the Moodle text editor. 
  10. Click Save and return to course.
