Time-lapse microscope with high sensitivity and high speed cameras

Location: Room 1.12, MRC Building

GFP1 is built around a Zeiss Observer Z1 microscope stand, it is equipped with an electronic fluorescence shutter along with an automated objective turret and fluorescent filter turret. There is also an automated prior stage and prior lumen light source. A MAC5000 device controller is used for controlling the stage and transmitted light shutter during timelapses. The camera is a 12bit Hamamatsu Orca ER.

Phase imaging is available, but not Differential Interference Contrast (the analyser in filter position 3 is not in use)

The microscope is enclosed in a blackout environmental chamber with access ports for ease of access to the stage to be able to change stage inserts to suit different samples (slides, 35mm dishes, plates, etc.). There are LED strips inside to allow you to see the stage through the viewing port. Owing to the chamber both heat and CO2 control is available, the CO2 can be either 5% or 10% and is used with a special chamber (not all inserts will be compatable with this chamber).
