How to map and login to your Project folder


The LMCB has now moved over to using UCL's Active Directory for storage. This means all image data must now be stored in Project folders on the Active Directory. Every microscope user must have a Project folder, which may be shared with other users working on that project. It is up to group leaders to decide who has access to Project folders. If you do not have a Project folder you must first ask your group leader whether there is an existing folder they want you to use. If so then they will need to contact IT support in order to give you read/write access to that folder. If you need a new Project folder then you must fill in the form at the following address:

Once you have a Project folder you can access it in the following ways:

  1. Click on the Start button and click Computer
  2. Click 'Map network drive' at the top of the window
  3. In the Folder field, type: \\ad.ucl.ac.uk\lmcb\project\'the name of your Project folder'
  4. Check the box called 'Connect using different credentials'
  5. Click Finish
  6. Enter the following text in the Windows Security dialogue box: User name: ad\'your UCL username' Password: 'your UCL password'
  7. Click OK
