Leica 2

Location: Room 1.19, MRC Building

Leica 2 consists of a DMIRB inverted microscope with phase contrast, Leica Modulation Contrast (LMC) and fluorescence capabilities. It is currently fitted with an Optronics MicroFire colour camera for acquiring images of coloured samples (e.g. histochemically stained) as well as fluorescent samples. Apart from the camera the configuration of the microscope is very similar to the Leica in room 3.17.

The PictureFrame software will save images in a number of standard formats, the default being TIFF. This should be fine for most purposes, but if you want to change the format you can do so by clicking on the File menu and selecting File Save Type.

I've installed the Fiji software package on the same computer. The TIFF files from PictureFrame can also be opened, processed and annotated in this software.

See the DMIRB Microscope Information link on the left for details of objective lenses and fluorescence filters.
