Parsers used to generate the XML required to import the questionnaire into Archivist: gitlab_us_covid and archivist_insert.

  • Remove scripting notes that have been parsed into the instrument in error (e.g., "Do not display DK and REF answer options, answer required.").

  • Delete all question literals, conditions, code list categories, etc. text that refer to any survey month other than the month of the current survey. For example, if the questionnaire was fielded in June 2020, do not include questions which refer to June 2019.

  • Delete conditions and the constructs within that refer to any survey month other than the month of the current survey. For example, if the questionnaire was fielded in June 2020 and the condition is "Ask if June 2019 survey".

  • Soft checks should be included, because the soft check leads to information that would have been seen by the respondent. Note: USoc main wave questionnaires follow different rules regarding hard and soft checks, which can be found here.
