Switching of light paths, filters and other components on the DMI4000 is achieved through the The buttons on the stand change a number of settings including the illumination modes (fluorescence, bright-field, etc), aperture sizes and lamp brightness. Some of these the buttons are configurable but most of the important ones are fixed in their function. The main buttons are on the front and left of the stand above the LCD or in a cross formation on the left of the stand. The LCD will indicate when a light path is reconfigured or a filter is moved.are fixed in their function.
