The buttons on the stand control a number of settings including the illumination modes (fluorescence, bright-field, etc), aperture sizes and lamp brightness. Some of these the buttons are configurable but most of the important ones are fixed in their function. The main buttons are on the front of the stand above the LCD or control panel and and those arranged in a cross formation on the left of the stand have fixed functions. The LCD will indicate when a light path is reconfigured or a filter is moved

Front control panel

Button 1 and button 2 (Figure 1) switch the light path between the eyepieces and the side port respectively. The light path state is indicated on the LeicaScreen in the fourth row down (Figure 2). If the fluorescent of bright-field illumination is on but you can't see anything down the eyepieces then check the screen and press button 1 accordingly.
