The diSPIM (aka 3i Marianas LightSheet) is a dual inverted Selective Plane Illumination Microscope in which the sample can be imaged flat on a standard microscope stage. This contrasts with light sheet configurations such as the LightSheet Z.1 in which the sample must be mounted in an imaging chamber, which can require more complex sample preparation steps.
