Vox On Off

Starting the Vox

1. Turn on the Exfo X-Cite metal halide light source on the shelf behind the Vox. You'll use this to see your fluorescent specimens down the eyepieces. The dial on the front is used to turn the light up or down
2. In no particular order turn on the computer, devices and lasers
3. The computer power button is at the top left of the front panel of the tower (see panel A in the image below)
4. The devices are all turned on through one switch on a wall socket plug behind the system. The plug is labelled 'Vox' (see panel B in the image below)
5. The lasers are turned on using the switch next to the socket at the bottom of the laser unit (see arrow in panel C in the image below)

1. Login to your user account and launch Volocity by double-clicking its icon on the desktop
2. Create or open a Library in your folder in the C:\UserData folder

You should only save data in the C:\UserData folder. Don't save on the desktop, in My Documents or anywhere else

Shutting down the Vox

1. Wipe clean any objective lenses you've used using the lens tissue provided
2. Clean up any spills
3. Quit Volocity before turning off any devices or lasers
4. Shut down the computer
5. In no particular order turn off the Vox devices at the wall socket, the laser switch and the Exfo lamp
