Meeting the Baseline

The UCL E-Learning Baseline suggests the following for Structure:

  •  1.2 Minimise cognitive load - ensure the navigation block is set to Generate navigation for the following: Everything (see below). This means users will be able to navigate your course easily by clicking on the menu links and without scrolling through all of the content.

How do I set one up?

The navigation block is by default on all Moodle courses but is not automatically configured to display links to each section on a course. To ensure it does this:

  • Turn editing on.
  • Click the cog icon and select 'Configure Navigation block'.
  • Generate navigation for the followingEverything.
  • Click Save changes.
