Assessments in WISEflow
This page contains guidance for coursework and for examinations that do not use the lockdown browser. If you are going to take an exam that uses the lockdown browser, read our guidance on Lockdown Browser Exams in WISEflow.
PDF assessments (FLOWassign)
IMPORTANT: When converting your document(s) into a PDF, you should NOT use a third party or online PDF converter as this can prevent you from successfully uploading your file and, in extreme cases, result in a non-submission.
FLOWassign type flows are commonly used for assessments where you are expected to submit an essay or written report.
Upload a single PDF file (maximum file size 200MB) as your main submission
If permitted, you may upload appendix material of any file type (up to 5GB, including your main PDF file)

When you have finished answering the questions or when the end time is reached, click Go to submission.
Tick the box and click Submit my paper to finish.
Important: All FLOWmulti submissions are final! Once you have submitted your answers, you cannot change or withdraw them.
Assessments without an online submission (FLOWattend)
Used when a submission is not required in WISEflow so that feedback and grades can still be provided online (e.g. performance, practical or attendance based assessments, oral presentations, OSCEs, etc.)
You do not need to submit anything to FLOWattend type flows and will only use them to access your grade and/ or feedback at a later date. See Accessing Grades and Feedback for more information.
Group Projects
Group work is supported on the following flow types:
FLOWassign
FLOWhandin
FLOWattend
There are three types of group submission in WISEflow:
Groups Submission: One group member can submit on behalf of the entire group (unless using FLOWattend). The entire group receives the same grade and feedback.
Individual Submissions: Each group member must upload and submit something (unless using FLOWattend). Each group member receives their own grade and feedback.
Group with Shared Submission and Individual Grading: One group member can submit on behalf of the entire group (unless using FLOWattend). Each group member receives their own grade. Feedback is shared with the entire group.
The type of group submission that has been set up for your assessment will always be clearly communicated on the main page underneath the submission date information.
If you have not already been assigned a group by your department administrators, you may be expected to create your own groups. You must be added to a group before you can make a submission.
Forming a group and inviting group members
Access the relevant flow (assessment) from your overview and click Form group.
On the prompt that appears, you can optionally give your group a name and then select other students to invite to the group. Once you have selected at least one other group member, click the Form group button.
Any group invites can be seen below the group submission information on the main flow page. Students can Accept or Reject the invitation. When you choose to form a group, you will automatically reject any pending invites.
Removing Group Membership
You can remove yourself from a group by clicking on the burger button next to your details and then clicking Remove from group. Click Confirm to proceed with removal.
If you wish to rejoin the group, you will need to be invited back by another group member.
Help with Group Membership
If you are having any issues with group membership (e.g. you have been added to the wrong group or are having difficulty joining a group), contact your department administrators for assistance.
